4 Methods Gaming Companies Take Advantage of us

4) Selling upgrades for real money

There is nothing better than beating your opponents at games such as Battlefield, the problem lies when you have to start paying for extra guns to give you the advantage. These guns are on the original edition but you have to unlock them – as more people are buying these upgrades, it’s forcing more people to buy them to have a chance to survive.

3) Companies watching our every move

A good example of this is Blizzard, in their agreement it states they by playing their games you are giving them the right to scan your computer looking for any third party software which will be reported right back to Blizzard. I’m just curious to whether passwords and personal details would be classed a “third party” information.

2) Exaggerated TV adverts

This is solely the most annoying factor of gaming companies, making the TV advert appear much better than the game gives us false hope only to be let down when you go out and buy it. Perhaps we can let them off using various cut scenes instead of game play but you know it’s too far when companies like Activision admit they create scenes that are just for the advert to make it look better.

1) Gamespot

Most of you will be aware of the popular game review site called Gamespot, the problem is that when they get paid to review a game they often feel bad slating it – who would buy any repeat reviews if they told the millions who read it not to buy that game. That’s why their rating is always higher than the user feedback which is what you should be looking at.

It’s a fact most people will want to read reviews before they go out and buy a game, just ensure that you take their review with a pinch of salt and compare it to other sites on the internet.
