Arsenal Storm Ahead
In what many had forecast to be one of the most boring Premiership races of recent times, it seems that Arsenal may be the team to be beat, with a number of their young guns eager to step up to the mark. Robert Van Persie has promised so much over recent years yet failed to make the most of his talents. Now that Henry has gone, he looks ever more the class act and ready to step into the big man’s boots!
Elsewhere Benitez has made Liverpool a force to be reckoned with, and Fernando Torres has been sensational since he joined the club. While he has suffered due to the club’s strange rotation system, over the last two games he has been nothing but amazing. He holds the ball up, he wins headers, he finds space and he has a coolness inside the box which you cannot teach. Is he an Anfield legend in the making?
While the first few games did not go well for Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have picked up of late, and scrapped a number of one goal wins even though they are not firing on all cylinders yet - the sign of potential Champions? Ferguson has such an array of talent that it must surely come right for him, and while they are back in the top bracket of the table, the Gunners are striding away from everyone at the moment.
What about Chelsea? I never thought we would be discussing Chelsea last of the big four, but it seems like the Stamford Bridge revolution is in grave danger of imploding. Mourinho has gone, Ballack is out of the squad and Shevchenko seems a pale shadow of the player who tempted Chelsea to part with over £30 million! The recent injury to skipper John Terry and top scorer Drogba’s sending off on Saturday are just the icing on the cake.
Interesting times ahead, although the final shake up may not include all of the teams considered favourites at the start of the season.
