5 sports that should be in the Olympics
5) Wushu
Not many people have heard of Wushu, it’s the martial art that Jet Li was a champion in, also in the Star Wars movie – Darth Maul did a little Wushu!
Although the fighting is actually choreographed down to the second you have to be impressed by the skills required in this art to avoid getting stabbed with a long pole. Did I forget to mention they have weapons!?
4) Rotorsports
Watching the track and field events it makes you think how much cooler it would be if the teams where in helicopters, some of these can reach speeds up to 200 mph. It’s just like Formula One but an added risk of being hundreds of feet in the air.
3) Speed Skiing
Being claimed the second fastest none motorized sport in the world there was a world record of 156 mph in 1992 as skydiving took the first position. Imagine going down a slope on skis faster than the speed limit on any road! One mistake will surely send you to your death, it’s been said that if you were to fall over the suit would be melted due to the friction and burn you to death.
2) Tug of War
The classic game that was often played in the playground, it’s an easy concept and true test of strength. Why shouldn’t it be in the Olympic Games?
There are also 55 nations that compete in the World Championship, they have laid out all of the rules in a 84 page rule book. Not sure how many pages are needed to say you have to pull as hard as possible…
1) Pistol Duelling
Back in 1906 Pistol Duelling was an actual Olympic Sport, however the teams used to shoot mannequins often dressed up in clothes to make it more authentic. It was polled amongst the favourite sports to bring back just before the 2000 Olympics, it actually finished second which just goes to show what the crowd are after – a brutal murder sport.
