5 things forcing you to gain weight without you even knowing

5) Caffeine

Almost everybody drinks coffee practically every day, after all it gives them that boost they need to continue throughout the day. Not many people realise the effect caffeine has on your body, take Starbucks for example, their notorious Frappuccino contains around 500 calories per cup!

That’s almost as many in fatty foods such as burgers and pizzas.

4) Trying to save money

Everyone is guilty of this, you go to the store and see the bulk packages of the items you want – buying these you automatically think you are saving money because you will not have to do another trip to the store. Wrong!

Usually when you buy in bulk you will begin eating/drinking the item at a quicker rate, so not only are you eating more than you would (making you fatter), you are wasting your money.

3) Eating with other people

Science has actually proven that by eating with other people will make us subconsciously eat more! As much as 20% per person, for example if you was out dining with a friend and they wanted to order a dessert after the meal – more than likely you would find yourself eating one as well!

2) Your mum!

Remember how your mum always told you to clean your plate as a child? This often sticks with us throughout adulthood and you will find yourself piling your plate up and devouring it without even realising how much you have just eaten. Studies have shown that it takes around 20 minutes for your stomach to signal your brain saying you’ve consumed food. You have no way of identifying how hungry you are so to be on the safe side – don’t pile up your plate!

1) The internet

The internet not only makes us fatter for the obvious reasons such as sitting down at a monitor for hours a day with no exercise but studies have shown that eating while you are distracted will allow you to eat more without even knowing.

Our brains are too focussed with what you are doing on the compute you are ignoring the fact you are eating. Have I just had 1 or 2 bags of crisps? I’ll just have one more…
